HILLSBOROUGH -- Mr. John Charles Apple, 82, of 4616 Kimbro Rd., died Friday at Duke Medical Center following several years of declining health. Mr. Apple was born in Mebane, the son of the late John Hester Apple and Winnie Bradshaw Apple, and was also preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Kimbro Apple, in 1992. A US Navy veteran, he served during WWII. He was employed by A&B Paving Co. for 15 years and was also a carpenter.
Surviving are his daughter, Faye Apple of Durham; and sons, Earl Apple, J.C. Apple and Avery Apple, all of Hillsborough; grandchildren, Jeff Apple, Mark Apple and Sherry Wagner, all of Hillsborough; great-grandsons Jesse Luke Wagner & Clayton Apple; a brother, Arthur Apple of Efland; and his sister, Hazeline Yancey of Efland.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted Sunday at 3 p.m. in Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery, Rev. David Bolick and Rev. Phillip Moore. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7 to 9 at Clements Funeral Home in Hillsborough and at other times at the home.
Flowers are acceptable, or memorials may be made to the Orange County Rescue Squad.
