He was employed as a machinist at the Elkhart Carriage & Motor Car Company.
He was a member of Bethel Evangelical Church, the Carpenter's Union, and Modoc Tribe, Improved Order of Red Men.
He had just finished his evening meal and was on his way to a barn to work on his car when he collapsed and very shortly died from valvular heart trouble (age 26). His funeral was held at the Bethel Evangelical Church.
He was the first of his family to die, being survived by his parents and 11 siblings.
