Mrs. Zelma Sweet
Friends here learned of the death March 2 of Mrs. Zelma R. Sweet, widow of the late J. Hyde (Jack) Sweet, which occurred in Immanuel Hospital in Omaha, Neb., where she had been hospitalized since February 4, suffering from acute leukemia. Mrs. Sweet was 88 years of age and had been a resident of Nebraska City since her marriage in 1964 to Mr. Sweet, long-time publisher of the Nebraska City News-Press.
Mr. & Mrs. Sweet were both widely known in this area, having been among the earliest of winter visitors here and returning year after year until just prior to Mr. Sweet's death where they established a winter residence in Sun City.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sweet were held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Nebraska City with burial in the Wyuka Cemetery.
Surviving are a son, Arthur R. Sweet, Nebraska City; and a sister Mrs. Roy Reed of Auburn, Nebr.
