Eliza was the daughter of Isaac Keown and Delilah Crowe. Her siblings were Nancy Jane, Mary Ann, twins Sarah Sally and John Carter, Samuel, Catherine, Warren Singleton, Cordelia and Henry Thomas.

She married James Huff on December 23, 1859 in Hancock County, Kentucky. Their children were George Singleton, William Jasper, Samuel Peyton, Mary Catherine, Ezra Carter, Joanna, Ira E., Walter Scott, Robert Archibald and Oliver M.

Paternal grandparents were William Keown and Hannah Jamison.

Maternal grandparents were Henry G. Crow Jr. and Elizabeth Richards.
