. Evender Dalton Carr, 82, of Tifton, died Thursday, November 4, 2010 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 7, 2010 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with the Rev J Jones and Elder C Tyson officiating. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, November 6, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Albritton - Beaumont Funeral Directors. Mr. Carr was born March 9, 1928 to Jack Carr and Artie Bledsoe Carr both deceased in Irwin County. He was a lifelong resident of Tift County who graduated from Tifton High School and served with the United States Army during the Korean conflict while stationed in Germany. He was a retired grocer who formerly owned and operated the Eastside Superette for 28 years. As a dedicated member of New River Baptist Church, Mr. Carr served as a deacon, a Sunday school teacher, a brotherhood director, and a choir leader. He loved bluegrass and southern gospel music, and Atlanta Braves baseball. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and woodworking, but most of all he cherished his loving wife and family, especially his grandchildren. - Edited by findagrave.com guidelines to protect the living.
