Damase McPherson, son William/Guillaume and Mathilda (Leduc) McPherson, was born September 20, 1842, in St. Timothee, Quebec, Canada—a town on the south shore of the Saint Lawrence River on the Beauharnois Canal, southwest of Montreal. Damase came to Washington County, Nebraska in 1865 or 1866—records differ. He was the only member of his large French Canadian family who left his homeland.

Damase married Adeline Bouvier in 1871 in DeSoto, Nebraska. They were the parents of Adele, Odile and William.

NOTE: His grave marker says he was born in 1841, however his baptismal record of 21 Sept 1842, says he was born the day before.
