TERRE HAUTE Robert E. Bob Myers, 84, of Terre Haute, passed away May 9, 2011, in Union Hospital. Bob was born Nov. 29, 1926, in Terre Haute, to Guy N. Myers and Ruby Hunley Myers. He was the owner of Myers Cleaners for more than 30 years.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in Japan. He was a charter member of Faith Baptist Church, and a member of American Legion Post 2, in Brazil.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Orpha Stout Myers, whom he married Feb. 14, 1948; one son, Robert R. Myers of Seelyville; two daughters, Susan Younger of Largo, Fla., and Becky Hyde and her husband Jim of Brazil; one brother, the Rev. Thomas Myers and his wife Marylou of Illinois; a sister, Pamela Newport of Terre Haute; six grandchildren, Russell Dale Doan, Twyla Kay Rader and her husband Aaron, Troy L. Doan, Michael Myers and his wife Christina, April Younger and Brad Younger; several great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Guy Ellis Myers; a granddaughter, Angel Doan; and a great-granddaughter, Nicki Weirheim.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday May 12, 2011, at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N. 13th St. Visitation will be Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time. The Rev. James Gibson will be officiating. Graveside military services will be provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 972. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.
