Edgar Wayne Dixon (10-16-1923 to 04-10-2005) was the second son of Marion Friel Dixon and Hattie Emily Beckner. He was born in Carroll County, Virginia. He attended Gossan Mines School.

He served with the Army Air Corps from April 26, 1943 until December 24, 1945. He received basic training at Atlantic City, New Jersey. He served overseas with the 13th Air Force where he participated in the campaigns of Luzon, Western Pacific, Air Combat Borneo, Bismarck, Archipelagoo, New Guina, Northern Solomon's and the Southern Philippines.

He won the American Theater Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with seven bronze service stars, Philippine Liberation Medal with two bronze stars, the Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal. He was discharged as Corporal after 23 months of overseas duty.

He was employed as a truck driver, service station operator and mechanic at Dixon Lumber Company. He also worked at Webb Furniture until his retirement.

He married Opal Georgene Leonard the daughter of Left Leonard and Margie Hawkins. The couple had five children:
