John Henry Hoffman was born in Philadelphia on March 22, 1864, and departed this life at the home of his daughter in Haddam, Kan., August 15, 1934, at the age of 70 years, 4 months and 24 days.

He homesteaded in Washington county near Haddam, Kan., in 1871. Following the occupation of his father, he engaged in farming in 1891 in which he remained 31 years. In 1922 he went to Grants Pass, Ore., where he managed a truck and fruit farm until 1933 when he came back to Kansas, where he spent the remainder of his life.

On March 22, 1894, he was united in marriage to Nina J. Shoop of Haddam, Kan. To this union seven children born. He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, Nina J. Hoffman, and children, Martha L. Banninger, John Henry, jr., Daisy B. Cornwell, Paulena K. Pierce and LeRoy A., all of Haddam, Kan.; Lettie A. Banninger of Greenleaf, Kan., Hazel K. Grover of Belleville, Kan., and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted from the Haddam M.E. church, the Rev. J.P. Snare officiating. Burial was made in the Haddam cemetery.--Haddam Clipper-Leader.
