CARLSBAD--"Doc" Dodson, 70, of Pinon Lane, Carlsbad, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 1995, at Guadalupe Medical Center.

Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Sunset Church of Christ with Mal Shakra and Michael Joiner officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Gardens. Services are under the direction of Denton-Funchess Funeral Home.

Mr. Dodson was born July 20, 1925 in Mount Pleasant, Tenn., to Madison and Pearl Wright Dodson. He grew up in Mount Pleasant and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy.

He married Louise Lee on July 5, 1946, in Iuka, Miss. They moved to Carlsbad in 1946. He went to work initially for IMC and later worked for Duvall, retiring in 1979.

He was a member of Sunset Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon and elder. He served on the board of directors of Lakeview Christian Home of the Southwest Inc. He was instrumental in the development and building of Skyridge Youth Camp. He served on the board of directors of the D.S.P. Federal Credit Union and was a member of the United Steel Workers of America.

Survivors include his wife Louise Dodson of Carlsbad; sons Larry, Tommy and Phillip Dodson, all of Carlsbad; brother Sterling Dodson of Mount Pleasant; sister Betty Jane Kelly of Mount Pleasant; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Delton Caffey, Bill Crabb, Roy Peterson, Lee Richards, Ben Saler, Joe Sullivan, Richard Swafford, Cecil Waldrop and Walter Carlson.

Memorial may be made to Skyridge Youth Camp, c/o Sunset Church of Christ, 1308 W. Blodgett St., Carlsbad, or Lakeview Christian Home of the Southwest, Inc., 1300 N. Canal St., Carlsbad.
