Laura A. Nagel, daughter of George and Nellie (Smith) Nagel was born August 8, 1897 at Brunswick. She graduated from Brunswick High School and attended Wayne State Teachers College. She taught rural and town elementary schools in Antelope and Pierce Counties in Nebraska. She married Claude Allen at Stanton, Nebraska on January 27, 1921. The couple farmed northeast of Neligh until 16 years ago when they moved into Neligh.
Mrs. Allen died Thursday, Dec. 19, 1996 at the Neligh Nursing Center. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in February, 1996; two brothers and three sisters, a grandson, and a son-in-law.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Melvin and Helen Allen of Omaha and Paul and Joan Allen of Enid, Okla.; two daughters, Mrs. Terry (Charlotte) Henline of Port Huron, Michigan, and Frances Best of Lincoln; a brother, Laurence Nagel of Naper; three sisters, Nell Noe of Scottsbluff, Marion Stone of San Angelo, Texas, and Helen Mitchell of Orchard; 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
