Requiem Mass was offered Monday morning in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, New Florence, for Joseph S. Chesla who died Thursday ad his home after a long illness.
Rev. Matthew Benko, O.S.B. was the celebrant.

Mr. Chesla, who is survived by 94 descendants, was buried in SS. Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville. A native of Poland, Mr. Chesla came to this country more than 60 years ago. He was a retired farmer and stone mason. He died at the age of 82.

He was preceded in death by his first wife (Antonia) in 1932, and by his second wife (Rose) in 1942.

Besides his third wife (the former Mary Kencke), he leaves three sons John and Andrew of RD 1, New Florence, and Frank, Latrobe, seven daughters (Mrs. Sophie Smyder, Mrs. Virginia Rummel and Mrs. Helen Lazorowics of RD 1, New Florence Mrs. Mary Moore of New Florence Mrs. Katherine Demko of Johnstown, Mrs. Anna Cardarella of Bolivar, and Mrs. Rose Komarinski (of Arizona; two brothers Andrew in Europe, and Carl in Uniontown; three sisters Mrs. Annette Las of Chicago, Mrs. Mary Jasien of Uniontown, and Anna in Europe, 34 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren.
