STEWARTVILLE -- The funeral for Lloyd W. Bettin will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville, with the Rev. Burton Hoag officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Stewartville.
Mr. Bettin, 94, of 419 Second Ave. N.E., a former Le Roy area farmer, died of complications of a stroke Saturday (Feb. 7, 1998) at Stewartville Care Center, where he had resided two years.
Born Oct. 20, 1903, in Odebolt, Iowa, he grew up on the family farm near Early, Iowa, and attended rural schools in the area. On Feb. 22, 1934, he married Emily G. Elliker in Odebolt. They farmed in central Iowa and then near Le Roy from 1951 until moving to Stewartville in 1966. Mr. Bettin then worked for Reichel Construction and Don Amos Painting and Decorating until his retirement. His wife was a homemaker. She died in July 1997.
Survivors inlcude two daughters, Carma (Mrs. George) Lazarus of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Mollie (Mrs. James) Bustad of Taopi; a son, Samuel of Racine; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Glenn of Hartley, Iowa. He was preceded in death by an infant son, six brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and until time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
