Lowell Ward Maples was born on February 24, 1902 at Highlandville, Missouri, the son of James S. and Sarah Elizabeth Maples and departed this life on June 11, 1953 at the home of a brother, Robert Maples, two miles north of Highlandville, at the age of 51 years, 3 months and 18 days.

Mr. Maples lived in the Highlandville community all his life and was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at Tory, west of Highlandville. He was a farmer.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Thelma Finton of San Diego, Calif. and Mrs. Betty Brown of Highlandville; two brothers, Robert Maples of Route 1, Ozark and Austin Maples of Highlandville; one sister, Mrs. Lona Sims of Highlandville; one grandson, Douglas Brown; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 13 in the Highlandville Baptist church with the Rev. Worth Caughron officiating. Burial was in Highlandville Cemetery under direction of the Harris Funeral Home of Nixa. Escorts were Glen Maples, James Maples, Truman Russell, Junior Sims, Virl Maples and Lycurgus White.
