Obituary, The Oklahoman, October 11, 2003
Colleen Joyce Turner peacefully left her physical life on October 9, 2003 following a prolonged illness. An Oklahoma City native and proud graduate of Classen High School, she married Lt J. Ross Turner, USNR on November 5, 1946. After a brief move to Ft. Worth, Texas, where she gave birth to her only child, Eric, Colleen returned to Oklahoma City. She took advantage of her new status in the City and joined the Northwest Newcomers Club, where she held a succession of offices, including President. When her son entered school, Colleen actively participated in PTA and held most, if not all, offices at various times including the jobs of PTA President for Rollingwood Elementary, Hefner Junior High School, and Putnam City High School. She loved working with students, parents and educators. Colleen never missed a school dance or prom as sponsor or chaperone.

When her son graduated from high school, Colleen returned to work outside the home. For nearly twenty years she enjoyed duties as the receptionist at Acme Brick's Oklahoma City sales office where many of her dear friends remain. Colleen enjoyed intricate crochet, reading, travel, baking, competitive bridge, fishing, and the many domino and card games which were common place at all Turner family gatherings. She was a competent foe at any game she played, but never lost sight of the fun she shared with her partners and opponents alike. Her popcorn balls at Christmas time were a favorite for more than 40 years.

Colleen joined Faith Tabernacle, Assembly of God as a child and remained a faithful and active member throughout her life. Colleen loved wholly and completely her church family, those with whom she worked and her own family. She enjoyed a full and rich life, seldom looking back to wish things had been different.

Colleen is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ross, her son Eric, her daughter-in-law Lisa and her two grandchildren Kathryn and Jackson. Her parents E.J. (Jack) and Gladys Felkins, long time Oklahoma City residents, predeceased her. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2003 at the Hahn-Cook/ Street & Draper Chapel with interment in Rose Hill Abbey Mausoleum.
