George Washington Holman/Holeman was born 22 Jan 1852 in Ozark Co., MO, to William "Bill" and Mary Jane (Ellis) Holman/Holeman. George married 21 Aug 1873, Ozark Co., MO, to Sarah Isobel Welch, b. 9 Mar 1857, Ozark Co., MO. George W Holeman Oklahoma Death Certificate, dated Jan 26, 1938. Sarah and George had six (6) children. Their first daughter Columbia was born in Missouri; then moved to TX, Florence "Floria", born 1879 (died young) and Kelsey, born in 1881. Not settled, they moved to Jimtown in Love Co., OK, in Indian Territory where Flora, b. 1889, Vesta, b. 1894; and Otto Rufus, b. 1898. The family moved to California, Texas, and returned to Oklahoma.
Oil was discovered on their land in Allen, Oklahoma, but George being very generous, the family said he gave it all away. As all the children moved away, George and Sarah lived alone, in Allen, OK, 1920 Census. George ended up in Ardmore, OK, where his son Otto and nephew Fred lived and died. Wife Sarah was said to have moved, but her burial place has not been located (last search 2021).
Corbett Grandsons Leslie and Paul (both born in Allen) revisited the Allen land and saw the old home still standing in 1985. I (Carol) visited the land in the 1990s, and the house was barely visible from dirt road and in disrepair. A man drove by, stopped and confirmed this was the old Holeman homestead.
