OBITUARY Iron River Reporter April 18 1922 "Pioneer Dies In Chicago Sunday: Aldo Lindquist Dies In Augustana Hospital Following Long Illness"
Aldo Gottfred Lindquist, age 61, died Sunday morning at the Augustana hospital in Chicago. The news of his death will come as a distinct shock to the many friends he has made during his 42 years of residence in this region.
Mr. Lindquist had been in the best of health until a year ago when he complained of ailments. Last fall he was taken to the Chicago hospital and operated on, returning to his home at Sunset Lake in February. A week ago he again went to Chicago. This time his condition became gradually worse until death came Sunday morning.
He was born in Smaland, Sweden August 15, 1857, coming to this country in 1878 and settling in Iron county. At that time there were no railroads running to this city and friends of Mr. Lindquist enjoyed hearing of his experiences regarding his trips through the woods during the pioneer days. In 1890 he moved to Norway where his family remained until their return here in 1899. He has lived at his Sunset Lake farm for the past 17 years.
He is survived by his wife and eight children. The children are Mrs. A.E. McCornock of Iron River, Esther, Hjalmer, Carl, Elsa, Mildred, Walter and Ruth of Sunset Lake. Three brothers and two sisters also survive him. They are Axel Aronson and Frank Lindquist of Seattle, Wash., Peter J. Aronson of Oakland, Cal., Mrs. Carl Moberg of Smaland, Sweden and Mrs. S.I. Johnson of Cripple Creek, Colorado.
The Iron county pioneer has been an ardent worker in the Swedish Lutheran church all his life and also has served on the board of education in Bates township for a number of years.
The body arrived here from Chicago this morning and will be taken to the family home at Sunset Lake this afternoon.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Bates church with the Rev. Olander officiating. Interment will take place in the Bates cemetery.

BATES TOWNSHIP LEGACY 1885-1985 centennial book "Carl G. Lindquist: State Legislator 1941-1954" page 117
Carl was born in Norway, Michigan on December 9, 1896. He was the son of Aldo G. and Hannah Lindquist. His parents were immigrants from Smaland, Sweden, and Nyakarleby, Finland. They first settled in Norway, Michigan and moved to Iron River in 1899 and lived on Boyington Street. In 1904, the family moved to Sunset Lake. The new house and 103 acres of land and timber cost $1,300.00. His father did some farming and bought and sold timber for many years-mainly interested in birdseye maple.

INFORMATION FROM RESEARCHER Philip Bjork ([email protected]) says Aldo is listed as having seven children. Although there is no mention of the fact that three children were born before Hannah arrived in the US so she must be his second wife and the mother of the remaining four children. The first wife was Wilhelmina Nelson Lindquist (no local burial found for her).

OBITUARY of Walter Lindquist 2004 says Aldo Lindquist was his father.

INFORMATION FROM WAYNE OHLSSON at www.rootsweb.com for Aldo Gottfrid Aronsson Lindquist says he was born Aug 15 1857 in Duvemåla, Algutsboda, Kronoberg, Sweden.
