Cleo Veatch

GREENVILLE — Cleo Blaske Veatch, 85, of Cumby passed away May 11, 2011, in Commerce.

Cleo was born June 28, 1925, in McKinney to Ebb and Ada (Kannady) Hathcock. Cleo married Edward Blaske, who preceded her in death in 1977. She later married Floyd Veatch, who also preceded her in death in 1983. Cleo attended Altoga schools and spent her early life cotton farming with her parents and siblings. In 1945, she moved to Lone Oak and worked for Haggar Pant Factory for five years and then worked at LTV Electro-Systems for one year. Cleo received her state beautician license and practiced for 10 years. She moved to Perryton in 1962 and devoted herself to bowling, participating in state and national tournaments. In 1996, Cleo moved back to Cumby to be near her family and spend her remaining years. She was a Baptist church member her entire life.

She is survived by her son, Ron Blaske and wife Brenda of Cumby; grandchildren, Niki Blaske of East Mountain, Pilar McLemore and husband Stephen, also of East Mountain, Brandon Blaske of Greenville, and Ryan Blaske and wife Courtney of Cumby; great-grandchildren Bishop Williams, Verona Williams, and Allison Blaske; a brother, Leroy Hathcock; nieces Darlene Miller, Loraine Greer, Vicky Arnold, Margaret Ann Abbott and Paula Jo Fowels; nephews Mike Hathcock, Randy Morris, James Morris, and Les Vance; and numerous other loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Pauline Morris.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen. Interment will follow at Pecan Grove Cemetery in McKinney.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
