The Rev. W. P. Daved, one of the oldest residents of Phillipsport, died at his home Tuesday evening, Feb. 16th. Mr. Daved had been in failing health for some time. A man never of very robust health, the trying weather of this winter seemed to hasten the end. He was at one time a member of the New York Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church but on account of his health located here some forty years ago. Since then, however, he has successfully supplied several appointments in the conference. Among the churches which he served are Monticello, Greenfield, Olive, Shandaken, Walker Valley and Bullivlle.

Born at Phillipsport in May 1829, he has always made the place his home. After leaving the ministry he kept a general store but sold out nearly thirty years ago and has been living on his farm ever since. Mr. Daved was a man of unquestioned piety, sterling integrity and highly respected by all who knew him. He leaves a widow, one son and one daughter to mourn his loss.

The funeral service will be held in the Phillipsport M. E. Church at one o'clock Friday afternoon.
