Thomas J. Fitzgerald, 92, of Bloomington, died Tuesday at Brown County Community Care Center in Nashville.

Born Dec. 2, 1906, in Chicago, he was the son of John and Mary (Reynolds) Fitzgerald.

He was retired from Commonwealth Edison in Chicago with 44 years of service. An amateur radio operator for over 60 years, he was a member of the Bloomington Amateur Radio Club. His memberships also include St. Paul's Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include three daughters, Joan Warrix and Trudy Marsischky, both of Bloomington, and Mary Sharon Kaplinske of New Lennox, Ill.; two sons, Thomas J. Fitzgerald Jr. of Rossmore, Calif., and John J. Fitzgerald of Bloomington; 20 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude R. Fitzgerald; three sisters, Agnes O'Leary, Marie Klein and Joan Hobbs; and one brother, Jack Fitzgerald.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Catholic Center with Father Emmanuel Ribeiro officiating. Burial will be at Clear Creek Cemetery.

Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Friday at Allen Funeral Home, where the rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Friday.

Memorial contributions may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor or to St. Paul's Catholic Center.

Thomas is employed as a Electrician for the Electric Company. Census indicates both of his parents were born in Ireland. Living with Thomas were his widowed mother Mary(46) Frtzgerald, his brother John(17) who is employed as a office clerk in a picture frame business, a sister Agnes(16) who is employed as a typist, a sister Joan(11), a sister Marie(21) Ranchle employed doing factory work at the electric company and her husband Albert(28) Ranchle who is employed doing bench work for a farming implements business.


1940 Census - Thomas(33) & Gertrude(30) Fitzgerald are found living in a home they rent for $53 a month located at 5537 Holcott South, Chicago, Cook County, Illnois. Thomas has completed 2 years of College and Gertrude has compltetd 1 year of high school. Thomas is employed as a dispacther for a public utility earning $2200 in 1939 and Gertrude is not employed. Children living in the home were Joan(5), Thomas(2) and Gertrude Ann(1) Fitzgerald. All born in Illnois.
