Bobby Harold "Bob" Raney, 77, of Toney died Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at Huntsville Hospital.

Mr. Raney was born Jan. 7, 1934, in New Boston, Texas, to Clayton Spear Raney and Ollie Mae Shipp Raney. He was married to the former Peggy Latain McLemore for 21 years.

He had served in the U.S. Army. He retired in 1989 from NASA as an engineer. He had lived previously in Pulaski, Tenn., and for the past two and a half years in Toney, Alabama. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife: Latain Raney of Toney; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Raymond and Nancy Raney of Fort Worth, Texas, and Dale and Carol Raney of Harvest; and sister and brother-in-law: Shirley Winter Mute and Mike of Indianapolis, Ind.

The graveside service was at 11 a.m. Friday, May 6, 2011, at New Canaan Cemetery in Morgan County with Shane Wheeler officiating.
