WEST HICKORY, Oct. 2
Mrs. Mary Alice Wheeler of Keepsake Farm, West Hickory, widow of Major Alexander R. Wheeler, died at noon today in the Warren General Hospital after, a short illness. She was 62.
Mrs. Wheeler, a daughter of James B. and Virginia Hall Siggins, descended from early Forest County pioneers, was born in Tionesta Oct. 21,1894. Educated in the Oil City public schools, she was graduated from Miss Bristol's School, Washington, D. C.
She was married in 1922 in St.Thomas Church, New York City, to
Major Wheeler, World War I hero and scholar (Yale and Oxford
England, universities) who was to embark that same year upon a distinguished seven-term membership in the Pennsylvania General Assembly, terminated in 1935 by his untimely death.

Land in Family 160 Years
Shortly after her husband's death in Endeavor, Mrs. Wheeler establised her home at Keepsake Farm, West Hickory, on land, an original holding, which had been held in her father's family for 160 years.
Mrs. Wheeler is survived by her sister, Mrs. Coleman Cooley of Hampton, Va., nephew, Commander James Siggins Cooley, U. S. Navy, stationed at Dugway, Utah, and two cousins, Miss Alice Siggins and Mrs. Jerome Hlnkle, both of West Hickory.
The deceased, a competent French linguist, was a world traveler. She had traveled around the world, as well as on many trips to Europe and to South America.
At Keepsake Farm, friends said, Mrs. Wheeler's vital, buoyant personality made her home a center of hospitality where were entertained many friends, often distinguished members of national and state government, and talented individuals in varied fields.

The funeral service in mermory of Mrs. Wheeler will be held at her home, Keepsake Farm, at 2:30 pm. Saturday. The service will be conducted by her pastor, Rev. Nelson 0. Home of the Tidioute Presbyterian Church, assisted by her
brother-in-law, Rev. Rex Wheeler of New York City. Interment will be in the Siggins family cemetery at Keepsake Farm.
