Prominent Orbisonia resident Henry Newton Gutshall died on March 3, 1963 at 9:45 as he was being rushed to J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital. Mr. Gutshall, a banker and former school teacher, had been in poor health, but his death was unexpected. He was prominent in Orbisonia community affairs projects. He was born in Springfield Township on March 16, 1885, a son of Peter and Mary (McGee) Gutshall. He was united in marriage to Mazie Starr of Springfield Township on Sept. 1, 1909, the ceremony being performed at Meadow Gap church, the Rev. George Reidell, Church of God. His wife preceded him in death on July 6, ---- Mr. Gutshall was a member of the the Orbisonia Methodist Church. He was a director of the Orbisonia Community State Bank and was a retired school teacher, having taught for 47 years in the schools of Huntingdon County. He was also an agent for the Lebanon, ------- and Hartford Insurance companies. He was a charter member of the Cromwell Lodge No. 572 F. and A. of Orbisonia; Harrisburg Company and Jaffa Shrine, he was secretary of Orbisonia Deer Club, secretary of Old School Baptist CemeteryAssociation of Springfield Township; charter member of the Orbisonia
Lions Club and he had been a member of the P.O.S. and I.O.O.F. as long as these lodges were active in Orbisonia. He is survived by these children: Mrs. Kenneth (Vera)Scott, Rochhill Furnace, Mrs. George (Freda) Corrie, Orbisonia; Norman L. Gutshall, Murraysville; Mrs. Clayton (Lena) Black, Orbisonia, R.D.; George Gutshall, Roaring Spring, One daughter, Grace, preceded him in death. Twelve grandchildren also survive along with two brothers, Simon and Silas Gutshall, both of Three Springs. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 6, at 2 P.M.
at the Ott funeral home in Orbisonia. The Rev. Jay MacKie, pastor of the Orbisonia Methodist Church will officiate and interment will be made in the Rockhill Furnace I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home after 7 P.M. Monday and until the hour for the services on Wednesday. Cromwell Lodge will hold memorial services at the funeral home on Tuesday.
