Arlena M. Axsom, 96, of Bloomington, died Monday at Bloomington Hospital.

Born Oct. 17, 1903, in Jackson County,
Daughter of John and Phebe (Varney) Axsom.

A teacher for 45 years, retiring from Clear Creek Elementary School.
Member of Indiana Retired Teachers Association and McDoel Baptist Church, and was a 50-year member of Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include:
Several nieces and nephews, including Norma Roper and Marilyn Housel, both of Bloomington, Edgar Axsom and Freda Long, both of Indianapolis, and Treva Tuley of Evansville.

Preceded in death by:
3 brothers, Memphis Axsom, John Axsom and Joseph Axsom;
5 sisters, Kezia Axsom, Cora Axsom, Pearl Jones, Martha Axsom and Dorothy Gilstrap.

Services at Day Mortuary with the Rev. Harold Carter officiating.
Burial will be at Clear Creek Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to McDoel Baptist Church.
