She was born in Muncie and had been a lifelong resident. She was employed at Muncie Newspapers in the circulation department.
Survivors include her husband of 41 years, David (Luke) Ferrell; a son, David D. Ferrell; three daughters, Debbie Huston (husband-Dan), Muncie, DeeAnna Jennings (husband-Tim), Eaton, and DeRonda Alexander (husband-Larry), Muncie; a foster mother, Wanda Eller, Copper Center, Alaska; five brothers, Jack Reading (wife-Becky), Ron Eller (wife-Lois), Don Eller, Tom Eller (wife-Lynn), and Curtis Eller; five sisters, Lydia Riggins (husband-Greg), Emma Russell (husband-Bob), Betty Webb (husband-Chuck), Jane Ann Groves, and June Schroader (husband-Dewayne); five grandchildren, Daniel Huston, Michael Huston, Caleb Jennings, Sarah Jennings, and DeLynnda Hill; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Ferrell was also a host grandmother to four exchange students. She considered them to be the same as her own natural grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Reading, Sr. and Lydia Bailey Reading; a son, Darrin Ferrell; a twin brother, Harry Reading; and eight other brothers and sisters.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Parson Mortuary, with Minister Jack Abels and Minister Tony Dishman officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery.
Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.
