Calvin was a member of the Baptist Church formed in Hollis around 1839. Pearl Rideout has in her possession the original sales agreement for pew 26 at $50.00 to Calvin had his family. This church was formed on June 6, 1837 and consisted of 28 members and took the name "First Baptist Church in Hollis'. The family lived in the area of 31 Rideout Road. Calvin rebuilt the Rideout farm house where his father lived for his family.
