Kate Jeremy married Culbert Olson in 1905. They had three children together. At the time that Culbert became governor, Kate was in ill health and would remain so during her time as First Lady. Despite her lingering illness, Kate loved to hold poker games in the Governor's Mansion with friends, employees, and security guards. Her all night poker parties became legendary. Sadly, Kate Olson died in the mansion on April 15, 1939 at the age of fifty-six. She was the only first lady to die while her husband was in office.
