She was a devout Christian and a member of Wilson Grove Baptist Church for most of her adult life.
She was known for her baking of what were called "cat head buttermilk biscuits". She made biscuits twice a day until her husband of more than 53 years passed away in 1973. Heartbroken, she lived on another 18 years before she joined him, and their daughter Alma, in Heaven.
She left behind her other 5 children, 11 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren to cherish her memory.
Mrs. Thompson is buried beside her husband, Willis Thompson, at Wilson Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Mint Hill, Mecklenburg County, NC.
