Deborah Reese Abernathy went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 in the home of her sister and brother-in-law, Von and Michael White, of Garland, Texas. Deborah was born April 4, 1952 to Jack and Annette Reese in Van Buren, Arkansas. Her parents and a brother, Ronald Reese, preceded her in death.

She leaves to mourn; her son, Anthony Massey of Cedar Hill, Texas and a grandson, Blake Massey of Fort Worth, Texas; three sisters, Jacqueline Matlock of Van Buren, Arkansas, Wanda Miller (Hermano) and Yvonne White (Michael) of Garland, Texas; three brothers, Toney Reese (Margaret) of the Colony, Texas, Gary Reese (Marilyn of Fort Smith, Arkansas and James Reese (Karen) of Van Buren, Arkansas; a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Deborah accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized into the faith at New Hope Baptist Church in Van Buren, AR.

She received her education beginning at Douglas Elementary School and graduating from Van Buren High School where she was the 1972 Homecoming Queen. Deborah has a painting of her on the levee wall at the Van Buren Riverwalk Park. She was also instrumental in re-establishing Crown Hill Cemetery to its distinction.

She was employed by Prim Rose of Cedar Hill, Texas as a leasing agent. Before that, she worked at "America I Can" a youth program in Dallas, TX. While livingin Arkansas she worked with the youth again at the Western Arkansas Development Agency summer youth work program. She worked also for the Arkansas Employment Security Division. He strong belief in our youth to excel was her inspiration. Deborah will be greatly missed by those youth whose lives were changed by her caring and motivation. May God Bless Deborah.
