Writer, political leader, public official. She was a graduate of the Academy of the Sacred Heart, Chicago and Torresdale, Pennsylvania. On December 2, 1922, she became the wife of George Waller Blow of La Salle, Illinois, and Yorktown, Virginia. Mrs. Blow was active in Junior League work in both Chicago and New York. She completed a short story course at Columbia University while her husband was a student and for several years served as Staff Writer for the New Yorker Magazine on Restaurants, New Apartments, and Out-of-Town Departments writing under the nom de plume "Soubise." At the beginning of World War II, she moved with her family to Yorktown, Virginia, and was active in American Red Cross work and the Virginia Women's Division of Savings Bonds. During 1945 she received a temporary assignment to the State Department for the United Nations Conference on International organization in San Francisco, California. Her political affiliation was with the Democratic Party and she was a member of the Advisory Committee to the Virginia State Central Committee. She ran unsuccessfully for the Virginia House of Delegates in 1949 and for the United States Congress in 1950. From 1955 to 1959 she held public office as Supervisor from the Nelson District in York County, and in 1962 served as Trustee of the Town of York. She was a member of the Assay Commission appointed by president Truman. As a leader in her community, she served on the Board of Directors of the Barter Theater, the Children's Home Society, Williamsburg Community Hospital. She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of Patrick Henry Hospital and a Fellow of the Pierpont Morgan Library. Mrs. Blow was a former President of the Yorktown Woman's Club, and also held memberships in the Colony Club of Richmond and the Washington City Tavern Club. Mrs. Blow died in her bedroom at the Nelson House in Yorktown from cancer in 1965.
