EGBERT W. CHAPIN
Marion, July 29.—Egbert W. Chapin of Winterfield, died at 10:30 a.m. today, after a long illness of a complication of diseases. The deceased was 55 years of age, and has resided in Winterfield a number of years during which period he closely identified himself with the growth and development of the township and north-western part of Clare county. He has held various offices, and at the time of his death was justice of the peace and township clerk. He was a strong advocate of temperance, a firm believer in total prohibition, and a staunch and active prohibitionist. He served in the army in the civil war and was a member of Marion Post, (LA.R., and will be greatly missed in the community where he has so long resided.
