Abigail was born to Richard W Morris and Elizabeth D. Johnson in Logan Co. Kentucky. Her brother Nathaniel moved to NW Illinois in 1827. Her father then decided he wanted to move there so in 1830 all the family except an older son, moved by oxen all the way to McDonough Co., Illinois where he bought a farm. The family attended the Union Baptist Church in Bethel township, as shown in records of Nov. 1831 it was composed of 10 members, including Richard Morris, Abigail Fargusson and Cassanda Morris.

Abigail had dark auburn hair and brown eyes and the auburn hair was passed down several generations.

She married Rice Fargusson on Sept. 14, 1831 at Morgan Co., IL. Their union was blessed with these children, James D., Louisa H., William D., Elizabeth Marie, Richard S., Nathaniel E., Benjamin F and Nancy J. Fargusson.

After she became a widow and after her children were grown, she moved with her daughter Elizabeth Marie Reed and her son inlaw Amos Reed by covered wagon, first to Iowa, then to Farmington, Republic County, Kansas in 1875. She lived there the rest of her life.
