Graveside services for Samuel Preston Weisenborn, 88, of Harrisonville, MO, were held on Saturday, August 7, 2010, at the Maplewood Cemetery in Clarence. Burial services were officiated by Jim Bilbro with Military Rites by the Clarence VFW Post 309.
Mr. Weisenborn died on Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at the Crown Care Center in Harrisonville, MO. He was born on August 25, 1921, in Clarence, the son of George Eno and Beulah May Todd Weisenborn. On September 3, 1978, he was united in marriage to Betty Lowell. She preceded him in death on September 15, 2006.
Samuel is survived by two children: Samuel Weisenborn, Jr. of Stilwell, KS and Linda Parker of Louisburg, KS; several grandchildren, great grandchildren; niece Sheila (Weisenborn) Habbe and nephew Kent Weisenborn and wife Mary Lou; one sister-in-law, Doris Yvonne Weisenbornn; legal guardian and special friends Sue Rohrs and husband Randy and Genea, Travis and G W Stoffer.
Sam served his country in the United States Army during World War II, serving as a sergeant in the 79th Infantry Division. After being badly wounded in 1944, he received his discharge from the Army. He then began working for Ethyl Imco Container Co. as a truck driver, retiring after 21 years with the company. He was a graduate of Clarence High School and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans.
