Vernon Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born March 28,1909 in DeForest, he was the son of Oscar and Clara Nordness, and married the former Dorothy Hildebrand on June 4, 1934. He was a band instructor in the Viroqua area schools for 31 years, and had taught for a total of 42 years. He was a graduate of Luther College, Decorah, Iowa, in 1932, and later did graduate work at the University of Wisconsin and the University of Minnesota. Mr Nordness was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, the Viroqua Lions Club, the National and the Wisconsin Education Associations, and also a member of the Wisconsin Band Masters Association. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; a daughter, Mrs. Gene (Audrey) Halvorson, Port Edwards, Wis.; his father, Oscar of DeForest; two sisters, Mrs. Chrystene Weedman of DeForest, and Mrs. Mary Ellen Ewings of Madison; a brother, Gerhardt, Arlington, Virginia; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Clara. Funeral services will be held at THE GOOD SHEPHERD LUTHERAN CHURCH, Viroqua, at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 27. The Revs. Duane Nelson, and Roger Hielle officiating. Burial in Viroqua Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-5:30 p.m. and after 6:30 on Thursday, Sept. 26, at THE BIEIER FUNERAL HOME, Viroqua, with a prayer service at 8 p.m. The family requests that memorials be made to the Luther College Music Department or the American Cancer Society.
