MATTOON – Mrs. O. Glenn (Gladys Leone Coons) Smith, 78, of Mattoon died 10:05 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 28, 1988) in the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Coles County.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, Mattoon, with visitation after noon Sunday. Interment will be in Dodge Grove Cemetery, Mattoon, at a later date.

Mrs. Smith was born in Mattoon, daughter of Leon E. and Ethel O. Coons. She was an elementary school teacher for 25 years, a member of First United Methodist Church, Service Sunday School class, Lydia Circle and a member for 57 years, past worthy matron and secretary of Elect Lady Chapter 40 Order of the Eastern Star and also a former state treasurer. She was a founding sponsor of Mattoon Youth Center and Senior Citizens. She married Oscar Daily in 1935. He died in 1944. She married O. Glenn Smith in 1948. He died in 1987.
