Ida Saltzman Stanley was born in Posey County, Indiana to William Henry and Sarah Elizabeth Kincheloe Saltzman. She grew up in Mount Vernon and graduated from Mount Vernon High School. She married her first husband Samuel Biggerstaff in 1908 and they had four children: Gladys, Chelsea (Chuck), Omega Faye, and Joyce. In the 1920's Ida divorced Sam and later married Mr. Stanley whom she stayed with until she died.

She is survived by her husband, daughters Gladys Biggerstaff, and Joyce West; son Chelsea (Chuck) Biggerstaff. and one granddaughter Judy. She is also survived by her brothers Harold (Myrtle) and Horace (Marie)Saltzman both of Tulare, Calif., Jesse (Amanda) and Vogel (Vashti) Saltzman of Mount Vernon, Ind., Eldon Saltzman of Evansville, Ind.; Sisters Beulah (Glen) Oliver, Sylvia (Sylvester) Ackerman, Mervil Clara (William) Phelps, and Yettive (John)Hancock all of Mount Vernon, Ind.; and Amy (Oscar) Strean of Winthrop Harbor, Ill.;

Burial is in Dodge Grove Cemetery in Mattoon, Illinois.
