Nelle Gardner Garrett died in Winter Park, FL, on 23 March 2007. She was born on 12 March, 1924 in Yreka, CA, to Beulah and John Gardner. Nelle moved to Klamath Falls, OR at a young age and graduated from Klamath Union HS in 1942. Nelle's father was a general contractor in Southern Oregon and Northern California and worked on large public projects throughout Oregon and Califonia in the 1920s and 1930s, to inlcude the Crater Lake National Park rim road. Nelle attended the College of the Pacific in Stockton, CA, and worked for Paul Matthews, CPA in Klamath Falls. In the spring of 1945 she met Morris Garrett, a U.S. Marine Captain, and they were married prior to Memorial Day. After the war, Nelle and Morris moved to Louisville, KY, where Morris was able to complete medical school and they settled in Fort Thomas, KY, where Morris was the head of St. Luke's Hospital radiology dept. She was predeceased by her husband, a sister Marjorie, and a half-brother William Nolen. She is survived by her four sons, Stuart, Mark, Peter, and David and five grandchildren.
