Arthur was born on his family farm in Robb Precinct, Gosper County, Nebraska. At the age of 5 his family first moved to Miami then settled in Jacksonville by 1918.
He was a brilliant student and graduated from Duval High School in 1927 with honors.
After school ended he went back to Nebraska to spend time with his cousin Claud and helped work in the feed business his Uncle had in Lexington.
Once summer was over he returned to Florida. Having always had poor health, he helped his father in a business venture which have much of a chance when the market crashed in 1929.
Sadly Arthur died from a bad bout with strep throat. (Sulfa drugs were not discovered for four more years, that may of saved him). His brother George, years later wrote that his weak heart just gave out from the fever and such of strep.
Arthur Joseph passed at the young age of 23.
