“William R. Welsch, 76, Bismarck, Illinois, died at 3 a.m., Tuesday, June 22, 1999 in San Luis Obisbo, California. Born July 28, 1922 in Danville, he was the son of John and Ethel Purnell Welsch. He married Mary E. Wilson February 20, 1944, who survives.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1941-47. He retired after 35 years services from Illinois Bell telephone.

Survivors, besides his wife, include: sons, William Welsch, Jr., Edwardsburg, Michigan, Samuel (Bonnie) Welsch, Ogedensburg, Wisconsin, James (Susan) Welsch, San Luis Obisbo, California, Gregory Welsch, Bismarck, Brian (Tillie Cook) Welsch, Danville; daughter, Rita (Donald) Gayler, Attica, Christine Mullholland, Danville; brothers, Joseph (Polly) Welsch, Palmdale, Florida, John (Rosalie) Welsch, Danville, George (Peggy) Welsch, Ontario, California; sister, Virginia Galeener, Largo, Florida; 18 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
