Raymond Napoleon GUERIN
Raymond Napoleon Guerin, Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather, 92, of Sequim, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2010 at home with Donna, his loving wife of 70 years, at his side. Born in Red Lake Falls, Minnesota, to Napoleon and Priscilla (Gauthier) Guerin on the Fourth of July, 1917, he moved with his family to Yakima at age 7. There he attended parochial school, was an alter boy, and sang solo in the church choir. It was in Yakima that he met and married the love of his life, Donna Verlea Hicks, June 10, 1939. After the birth of their first child, Ronald Ray, they moved to Seattle. His main goal was to provide a good life for his family. Always a hard worker, he had a strong work ethic all his life, often working several jobs simultaneously. This enabled him to start his own business in 1955, Guerin Manufacturing Company in Lynnwood, a manufacturer of aircraft products primarily for Boeing and the U.S. Air Force. During the years that followed he became a charter member of the Lake City Elks Lodge 1800, and moved home and business to Edmonds and Lynnwood. There he became a board member of Citybank, Lynnwood (1974-1999). He was a long-time supporter of education, funding scholarships and college plans. After retirement in 1985, he and Donna motorhomed extensively. In 2002 they moved from Edmonds to Sequim to be near their daughters. They were instrumental in establishing Project Lifesaver in Sequim. Ray will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. We are comforted by the belief that he is now with his son, Ronald and grandsons Patrick and Casey Gooch, who proceeded him in passing. He leaves behind his wife Donna, children Trudi Elofson and her husband Toby, Linda Gooch and her husband Michael, grandchildren Leslie Bakker and her husband Michael, Deborah Dotoli and her husband Frank, Cally Tauran and her husband Phil and Megan Schmidlkofer and her husband David and eight great grandchildren, sisters Auna Guerin and Blanche Benedictson, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He lived, he loved and he danced.... Relatives and friends are invited to join in the celebration mass of his life at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday March 23rd at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 121 East Maple Street, Sequim, WA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Seattle Children's Hospital Foundation, Ronald Ray Guerin Endowment, P.O. Box 50020, Seattle, WA 98145 or www.seattlechildrens.org
