Mrs. Laura Bertha Straight died Sunday morning, March 22, 1970, at St. Luke's Hospital, Pittsfield, Massachusetts, after a long illness. Before moving to Pittsfield nine years ago, she lived in Lake Placid, Upper Jay and Jay, New York.
Mrs. Straight was born in Chesterfield, New York, on October 16, 1889, a daughter of Merritt and Lila Pray Williams. She was married to Clark W. Straight on April 30, 1905. Mr. Straight died on June 1, 1955.
Mrs. Straight, a good Christian wife and mother, was a faithful member of her church. She had suffered with arthritis for many years, but she always accepted her illness patiently. Before she became too badly crippled, she did beautiful handwork, including many crocheted spreads. She enjoyed reading in her later life.
