FRANK B. YEILDING DIES IN BIRMINGHAM
A man, who rose from a mercantile clerk to become a prominent business leader, bank official and leading Methodist layman here, was dead today. He is Frank Bee Yeilding, 83. one of the founders and owners of Yeilding Brothers Company. Mr. Yeilding died yesterday at his residence, 2904 Thornhill Road. He had been retired from business during the last several years. He was born in Blount County in 1864. His father was killed in the War Between the States. In 1884 he moved to Birmingham with his mother to make his home here. He became a clerk in the mercantile firm of William Hood and W. S. Brown. Later he acquired an interest in the firm. In 1909 Mr. Yeilding and his brother, the late W. J. Yeilding bought the entire firm and changed it to Yeilding Brothers Company. He was an active member of the Methodist Church for more than 50 years, serving as delegate to the General Methodist Conference six times. He was a member of the Norwood Methodist Church many years and then later moved his membership to Mountain Brook Methodist Church. In addition to his other interests here, Mr. Yeilding was prominent in banking circles. He was a director of the old American Bank & Trust Co. before that bank was acquired by the First National Bank. He later became a director in the First National Bank. He was also a vice president and director of the Bank For Savings and Trusts until his retirement from business in 1946. Interested in the civic growth of the city, Mr. Yeilding served two terms on the old Birmingham Police Commission. In 1898 he married Miss Morgana Bland, of HancevlUe, who died in 1911. The couple had five children, Howard, Newman, Lewis Milton, Frank B Jr., and Katherine Yeilding. In 1914 he married Miss Sallle Grant, Jackson, N. C who became the mother of two children, William Grand Yeilding and Henry B. Yelldiiig. Surviving are the widow; six sons, a daughter, Mrs. Milton Price, Dallas, Tex., and 10 grandchildren.

Merchant; acquired the merchant establishment of Wm. Hood who married Yeilding's sister, Vilanta; it became the Yeilding Department Store, a Birmingham, Alabama institution.
