Benton “Papa B” Moorefield, 77, of Claudville died Sunday, May 15, 2011, at his home.
He was born June 9, 1933, in Patrick County to Charlie Walter and Lucy Handy Moorefield. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Slate Moorefield; a granddaughter, Angela Handy; three half brothers, Fred Moorefield, Herbert Anderson and Lester Anderson; and a half sister, Myrtle Flippin.
Mr. Moorefield was a member of Dobyns Primitive Baptist Church, where he had been a deacon since 1986.
He had been a farmer and was a retired bus driver for the Patrick County School system.
