Gary Albert Barnes Resident of Concord Gary was born to Samuel Jefferson Barnes and Erma Pilling Barnes in Sunnyside, Utah on November 19, 1934. He passed away on May 13, 2009 after several strokes and a battle with Parkinson's disease. He spent his childhood in the Glacier National Park area of Montana. He was a graduate of Brigham Young University and did his post graduate at Hayward State College. He retired from teaching 6th grade at Wren Avenue Elementary, Concord, California. Gary is survived by his wife, Olive Barnes; children David Barnes of Logan, Utah and Kathy Barnes of Concord, CA; daughter-in-law Lisa Barnes; brother James Barnes of Rockland, CA; brother-in-law Richard Montori of Pacific Grove, CA and nieces and nephews. After college, Gary served in the Army. His enjoyments were golfing, fishing, gardening and traveling. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 23, 1pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1590 Denkinger Drive, Concord, CA 94519. Burial services will be held in Park City, Utah. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the memory of Gary Barnes to Temple Hill Symphony Orchestra, P O Box 3153, Oakland, CA 94609.
