AUSTIN, JAMES F. age 22, Senior Airman Security Forces, went home to be with the Lord, May 22, 2011, as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash.

He was born January 21, 1989, in the town of Westerly, RI, to Mark Gregory and Alice Ruth Austin (Chappell). His parents homeschooled him and his three younger sisters, throughout his entire education and he graduated high school in June of 2007. James served in the U.S. Air Force. He graduated 5th in his class at the Air Force Security Forces School at Lackland Air Force Base in March of 2008. He then and was stationed at Minot Air Force Base in Minot, North Dakota. He attained the rank of Senior Airman.

James grew up in Ashaway, RI, but spent much of his life in North Stonington, CT, where his Grandfather, the late James A. Chappell was Pastor of North Stonington Bible Church. James was a vital part of the church and spent many days serving in the church. He demonstrated a servant's heart and the gifts of encouragement and helps. James always embraced each person and showed them love whether he had known them for years or just met them. His love for others always shone through his smile and James is survived by his parents Mark and Ruth of Ashaway; his sister Amanda, his sister and brother-in-law Tiffany and Ricky McGlon, and his youngest sister Bethany. He also leaves his maternal grandmother, Alberta Chappell of North Stonington; and his paternal grandparents, Patricia Eckels of Gardner, MA and James E. D. Austin of Washington. He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

Calling hours are Friday, May 27, 2011 from 4-8 pm in the Buckler-Johnston Funeral home 121 Main St., Westerly, RI. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the Wheeler Gymnatorium, 298 Norwich Westerly Rd., No. Stonington, CT. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow in Union Cemetery, No. Stonington.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to North Stonington Bible Church "Building Fund" PO Box 28, No. Stonington, CT.
