Printed inthe Sheboygan Press 16 Mar 1927: Father Of G.F. Schlei, Director of High School Band, Dies Today:

Word was received today of the sudden death of the Rev. August Schlei, 63, father of G.F. Schlei, director of the high school band. The Rev. Mr. Schlei, who has been pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran church at Algoma for the past fifteen years, was seized with a heart stroke Tuesday evening. Mr. Schlei received word of his father's death shortly before 4 a.m. today. He left for Algoma this morning.
Although born in Berlin, Germany, the Rev. Mr. Schlei spent almost his entire life in Wisconsin. His paretns came to Manitowoc when he was four years old and made their home in that city. The Rev. Mr. Schlei attended a seminary at Springfield, Ill., and then assumed the pastorate of a church at Wenewoe. Four years later he went to Montello where he remained twenty-one years, and then he went to Algoma, his home for the past fifteen years.
He is survived by his widow, formerly Miss Emma Johannes, of Two Rivers, four sons, and two daughters. The Rev. Mr. Schlei has visited this city many times and he is well known among his associates in the ministry.
