Ex-Banker Meriwether Dies at 80
Spent Half Century With Citizens Fidelity


Edmund Taylor Meriwether, a retired vice-president of The Citizens Fidelity Bank & Trust Company, died at 7:30 a.m. yesterday at Methodist Evangelical Hospital. Meriwether, who lived at 328 Penruth, was 80.

Meriwether retired from Citizens Fidelity in 1954 after 50 years' service. He was vice-president and cashier for 25 years.

He is a former treasurer of the Kentucky & Indiana Terminal Railroad, and was commander of the Jefferson Post of the American Legion in 1921 and 1922.

Graduate of Male High

He was a 1900 graduate of Louisville Male High School. During World War I he served as a captain in the 138th Field Artillery.

He was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church, and a former member of Country Club, the Louisville Boat Club, and the Reserve City Bankers Association.

Survivors include his wife, the former Elizabeth Hoge; a sister, Miss Adeline E. Meriwether; two daughters, Mrs. Stanley C. Schuler, Greenwich, Conn., and Mrs. Hugh M. Rose, and four granddaughters.

The funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Pearson's, 149 Breckinridge Lane. Burial will be in Cave Hill Cemetery.
