Richard Eugene Smotts, 72, was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on November 5, 1938. Richard and his wife Thea have been residents in Waxahachie, TX. for 33 years and own and operated the Vacuum shop in Waxahachie. Richard also served in the ministry for 56 years.

Survivors include his loving wife, Thea, of 53 years, 6 children, Richard Smotts, Jr. of Dallas,TX, Randy & Jill Smotts of Houston, TX, Roger & Kim Smotts of Midlothian,TX, Pamela & Dean Settlemyer of Waxahachie, TX, Tammy & Mike Settlemyer of Waxahachie, TX, Robin & B.J. Bean of Maypearl, TX and 15 grandchildren, Brock & Karesa Smotts, Brandy Smotts, Brianne Smotts, Christina & Jeff Milby, Hannah Smotts, Morgan Smotts, Jonathan Smotts, Krystal Smotts, Donald Settlemyer, serving in Afghanistan, Daniel Settlemyer, Tressa Settlemyer, Mike Settlemyer, Kaley Settlemyer, Kaleb Sanders, Ty Bean, 7 great grandchildren, 4 nieces, Sharon Jantz, Karen Ingraham, Monia Embry and Christy Thompson, 2 stepsisters, A Spiritual Father H.E. Burris, and 3 spirtual sisters, Barbara, Sharon, Nancy.

He was preceeded in death by his mother, Ida Clem, stepfather, Paul Clem, sister Ida Paulette Wray, a brother, William Jerry Smotts, and a son Ronald Paul Smotts.

Visitation will be on Friday, April 15, 2011 at 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Waxahachie Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be at Sardis Methodist Church in Sardis, TX. at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 16, 2011. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park, 200 Oaklawn, Waxahachie, TX.
