DAYTON, James Orvil, 64, of Dade City, Fla., passed away Sunday, May

22, 2011, at Pasco Regional Medical Center. He was born January 29, 1947, in Tampa, to O. L. Dayton Jr. and Sarah Elizabeth Knight Dayton and was a Dade City resident for most of his life. He attended Dade City Grammar School, Pasco Junior High School, St. Leo College Preparatory School and Dunedin High School. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and worked as a computer programmer for both the Marine Corps at Okinawa, Japan and British Tobacco Corporation in Sydney, Australia. He attended Mercer University in Macon, Ga., where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order. He also attended East Tennessee State University and the University of South Florida. He is survived by his brother, William G. Dayton of Dade City; sister, Beverly K. Dayton of Tallahassee, Fla.; niece, Caroline Dayton-Sherrill of Tallahassee; and brother-in-law, William Sherrill of Tallahassee. Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2011, at St. Mary Episcopal Church. Interment will follow at Dade City Cemetery. The family will receive friends for viewing 5-7 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2011, at the 5th Street Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City. Flowers will be gratefully accepted or those that wish may make donations in his memory to St. Leo Abbey.
