Born in Wilton Conn Oct 2, 1800, a broker; lived with his grandparents in Wilton until 1813, then with his parents in Otego New York till 1816, when he went to Cooperstown NY to learn the tailors trade; dwelt in New York City from 1821 till Oct 1832, and then to Mobile, Ala; till 1836, when he returned to New York, and at the last report, 1873, was in business at 138 Chatham Street, and his house at 63 Monroe Street; married July 13, 1826, at Norwalk, Conn, Ann Hoyt, born in Norwalk, Oct 18, 1803, daughter of John Hoyt and Ruth Gregory of Norwalk. She died in New York City July 27, 1832, of cholera, and was buried in St. John's Church Burying ground in New York. He then married July 25, 1836, in New York City, Maria Millikan, who was born at Hinsdale, Mass, Dec 11, 1802, and died in New York City, Nov 27, 1836, of hemorrhage of the lungs, and was buried in a vault in St. Luke's church yard, Hudson Street. He married in New York, Dec 4, 1838, Margaret Ann Ackerman, born in New York Sept 26, 1811, daughter of John Ackerman. She died in New York Aug 22, 1866, of cholera, and was buried in Cypress Hills Cemetery, Newtown, Long Island.
